There is a growing trend within the interior design sphere for vintage and retro inspired features making a comeback into the home; whether this is giving an old chest of drawers a new lease of life or simply the décor of a room having a retro influence. Similar to the fashion world many of these retro trends are coming back to life with inspiration taken from the 50s, 60s and the 70s.

Combining vintage trends with the modern day home is becoming more and more popular. It gives you the opportunity to update your home in a simple way by adding retro elements such as statement art pieces, feature walls and even quirky furniture. Soft furnishings can also be incorporated into the retro theme with cushions, vintage inspired fabrics and other decorative pieces.

Another big trend this year is the growth of incorporating reclaimed and upcyled furniture into interiors, this gives the chance to revive old treasured pieces and put a modern stamp on them. Various items of furniture can be upcycled;  from a coffee table made from recycled wooden pallets, chairs made from old suitcases or simply a tired desk being painted with a stencil pattern- the possibilities are endless!

If your home needs an update, using retro influences is a perfect way to add style and charm .  It doesn’t necessarily mean you need to re-do a whole room but instead you can add few statement or vintage pieces.
