British design is noted for its classic and timeless appeal and can have great influence on interior design trends.

Designers such as Mulberry, Burberry and Liberty of London are infamously known for their iconic style and workmanship. The Burberry print is now trademarked within the design field, as are the beautiful floral prints that Liberty of London is renowned for. Similarly, Mulberry is best known for its quality leather products, as well as being a fashion designer they also have a beautiful home range.

British design has influenced interiors for generations.  Classic design features include heavy, textured curtains, luxurious leather sofas or classic wooden pieces of furniture. Floral printed wallpaper or textiles synonymous with John Ruskin and William Morris is another characteristic of British style used in interior design. Alongside other decorative pieces from the Arts and Crafts movement, including inspiration from Charles Rennie Mackintosh; the influence of which can still be seen today.

At Dorothy Wightman Interiors we work with some of these top modern designers and suppliers to help create beautiful and distinctive interiors for our clients.  Whether influenced by contemporary trends or more classic in design, it is often indicative of this elegant and classic British styling.  We pride ourselves on high quality, skills and workmanship to create the most beautiful homes – using influences of some of the great British designers and trends that inspire us.
