Here at Dorothy Wightman Interiors in Cumbria, we're set to host another exhibition from some of the UK’s most renowned artists. ‘Possibilities in Paper’ will run from May 10th to June 20th.

Paper is a very everyday material which has been transformed by the artists in this exhibition into beautiful works and desirable objects.

Kate Downie RSA is an artist with an international reputation. Born in USA of Scottish parentage her first major solo show was in Aberdeen. Her work has been exhibited throughout the world including exhibitions in China, Norway, Denmark, Holland, France and the USA. A member of the Royal Scottish Academy, Kate has established her reputation as a significant artist through her fine drawing skills, which are evident in the works in this exhibition.

Anne Finlay and Ana Hagopian create contemporary jewellery using paper. Anne is an Edinburgh graduate and her pieces are in bold, modern colours with strong structural forms. Ana is Spanish and in her work the colours used reflect sunnier climes and a whimsical nature. The use of paper as the main material makes the work of these two jewellers very affordable and wearable as we move into sunnier weather as summer approaches.

We've also selected some special additions for the ‘Possibilities in Paper’ exhibition; a few larger pieces of work by Julie Arkell. Julie is one of the UK’s most recognised contemporary folk artists working in papier-mâché and mixed media. Her work has attracted many fans to the gallery and Dorothy has arranged to have a few exclusive pieces for this exhibition.
